After visiting friends fishing cabins along the Intracoastal Waterway many times, Milton Peel desired to have a place of his own. He obtained the phone numbers of all the cabin holders along the Intracoastal Waterway from the Texas General Land Office (GLO). After calling a majority of the cabin holders he found several who were interested in selling their cabin. Prices varied greatly, up to $160,000.00. The best deal appeared to be PC 1217, owned by Thomas Foster from San Antonio. Milton found five other people interested in becoming a partner in the Cabin.
The original Cabin measured 19' by 20' and consisted of two rooms. One room obviously was a porch that was later enclosed. Milton petitioned the GLO to add on to the Cabin and they approved a 12' X 12" addition on the back and a 14' X 14' screened porch on the front. Before the additions were constructed, it was decided that the Cabin was in poor shape and should be replaced. Using the square footage of the existing Cabin and the approved additions, a new floor plan was presented to the GLO showing a 20' by 26' Cabin with an 8' by 20' porch on the front. Formal approval was received from the GLO on March 5, 2003 to build this structure.
